BLOG #2 / ACTIVITY # 2
According to Merriam Webster (2017), plagiarism is an action where it steals and passes off ideas or words of another as one's own. Furthermore, It is a crime where there is no credit of sources or works that leads to literary theft. Based on the statistics of Global Plagiarism Statistics (2020), there is 80% of guilty college students who admit plagiarizing. On the other, 36% of undergraduates have admitted to plagiarizing written materials. In short, copying is everywhere, and it happens every time.
To avoid plagiarism, always paraphrase or quote your sources, and you may add your ideas. Lastly, never forget to credit the original author by performing the in-text citation and reference list (Streefkerk, 2020). It is essential to perform citing and referencing sources because it allows proper credit for the authors who work hard and passionate about their ideas and words that you incorporate into your paper. Additionally, It authorizes the reader to locate the sources of your works to learn more about the knowledge that you include in your study. Lastly, as I mentioned, it consistently and accurately helps you avoid committing plagiarism in your work (UNK Library, 2020).
